Lithuania Lake 1 - Excellent

Plokštinės is a bathing area on Lake Plateliai in the Plungė district of Telšiai region, Lithuania. The beach features a natural shoreline with sand and fine gravel substrate. Water quality has consistently met excellent standards from 2018 to 2024 according to EU Directive 2006/7/EB requirements. The beach can accommodate approximately 300 visitors during peak season under favorable weather conditions.

Water

Lake Plateliai. Average water depth is 1.0 meter, maximum depth is 1.5 meters. The water body is classified as Type 3 with good ecological status. Annual precipitation in the basin is 1126 mm, with precipitation in the influence zone totaling 873.4 mm. Peak monthly precipitation occurs in October, lowest in April.

Located in Plungė district, Telšiai region, Lithuania. Monitoring coordinates: X=56.0438, Y=21.8320. Beach length is 50 meters.

Facilities

Toilets are available. Volleyball court. Waste management facilities including garbage containers and separate recycling containers for paper, glass, and plastic. Pets and animals are prohibited from the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2018–2024). No point source discharges present. No diffuse pollution sources identified. No other surface water bodies upstream that could be pollution sources. Short-term pollution possible during heavy rainfall, typically resolving within 1–2 days. On 29 July 2024, short-term pollution was recorded with exceedance of intestinal enterococci limits per standard HN 97:2018.
