Pontirola

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Pontirola is a bathing water located on Lake Garda in the northern area of Torri del Benaco, in the Veneto region. The beach is oriented westward and is situated at the base of the embankment supporting the SS249 road. The beach width ranges from 5 to 10 metres. The bathing water has been classified as excellent for the years 2021–2024.

Classification: Excellent (2021–2024). E. coli at 95th percentile: 4.529 CFU/100 ml; at 90th percentile: 3.553 CFU/100 ml. Enterococcus at 95th percentile: 32.636 CFU/100 ml; at 90th percentile: 18.754 CFU/100 ml.

Risks

The beach is affected by river mouths, specifically the Spighetta Vallona. Pollution sources include a mixed municipal water conveyance system with emergency overflows, a consortium collector, meteorological water discharge pipes, and the Peschiera del Garda wastewater treatment plant, which discharges into the Mincio River in Lombardy.
