Pors Mabo is a bathing beach located in the commune of Trébeurden within the Lannion-Trégor Communauté area in Brittany, France. The beach has a small watershed of 126 hectares with limited hydrographic density. The area experiences significant summer population growth. Water quality monitoring has been conducted since 2013 using bacteriological analysis for E. coli and enterococci.

Water Quality

Water quality classification assessed according to EU Directive 2006 standards. Bacteriological monitoring conducted by the regional health authority (ARS) between 2013 and 2018 measured E. coli and enterococci levels. The 95th percentile concentrations were tracked over four-year periods. Classification history compared under both 1976 and 2006 Directive methodologies.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified including wastewater collection and treatment systems, rainwater collection systems, agricultural activity, and other sources. Hydrodynamic modelling assessed the dispersion of discharges into the sea. Ulva algae deposits were recorded at nearby sites between 2007 and 2016. Non-compliant individual sewage systems and incorrect connections to collective sanitation present pollution risks.
