An extensive and beautiful long sandy beach surrounded by high cliffs, located in a small fishermen village with a small harbor. The beach is situated in the municipality of Lourinhã along the Ribeiras do Oeste river basin.

June 12th to September 12th, 2021. Sampling frequency: triweekly.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2020 under Decreto-Lei 135/09. Contamination risk is very low based on water quality history. Potential fecal contamination from the tributary stream during intense precipitation events, but occurrence is unlikely given historical records.

Risks

Potential fecal contamination from tributary river during periods of intense rainfall. Cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation are unlikely. No history of short-term pollution events in 2020.
