Praia do Farol sits on Ilha do Farol, part of the Ria Formosa lagoon system near Olhão, and is reached only by ferry, with crossings from Olhão taking about 20 minutes and from Faro around 45 minutes. The beach faces open ocean waters that are shallow and can be wavy, and sunbeds are available for rent near the shore.
