Location

Briatico, Calabria, Italy. The bathing area is situated in front of agricultural territories east of the town center of Briatico. The water body is known as Briatico - Zambrone.

Facilities

Accessible walkways for disabled persons. Animals are permitted in the area.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The bathing area is monitored by the Calabria Region, the Municipality, ASP, and Arpacal. Accidental failures of the Briatico wastewater treatment plant at Conidoni location and overflows from the Fiumara Spadara estuary have been identified as pollution sources.

Risks

Potential pollution from the Fiumara Spadara estuary mouth and accidental malfunctions of the Briatico wastewater treatment plant. Cyanobacterial proliferation events and macroalgae or phytoplankton blooms have not been reported in the last four years.
