The Río Rabal bathing area is located in Chandrexa de Queixa municipality in Ourense province, Galicia, Spain. It consists of artificial concrete pools and a recreational area constructed on the right bank of the Río Rabal river. The bathing area is filled when a gate regulates water entry from the river, which flows over a granitic rocky substrate with central and lateral vegetated bars. The area sits at an altitude of 924 metres.

Water

A cantabrian-atlantic siliceous river with a single, low-sinuosity channel flowing over granitic bedrock. The Río Rabal section has an environmental flow rate of 0.45 m³/s and a four-year return period flow of 77 m³/s. Monthly mean flows vary seasonally, with highest flows in winter months and lowest in summer.

Located in Chandrexa de Queixa, Ourense province, Galicia. Access via road OU-0601 from Rabal towards Chandrexa; after passing Puente de Rabal, take the right-hand path. Parking is available. UTM coordinates: X 632960.18, Y 4684719.19 (DATUM ED 50).

Parking available. Picnic areas (merenderos) present. Waste bins and waste containers available. Drinking water fountains. Artificial swimming pools. Recreational zone. Estimated bathers: 45 on weekends and 45 on weekdays. Water Quality

Water quality classification data from 2011–2015 shows monitoring results for Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci measured in CFU/100 ml. Point sources include sewage treatment from Garduñeira (2,000 m upstream) and Drados (1,150 m upstream). Diffuse sources include agricultural runoff from fertilised crops and meadows. Self-contamination from bathers and accidental or illegal discharges are also identified as sources.
