Germany Lake 1 - Excellent

Südbad Schleichersee is the eastern section of a lake that originated from a gravel pit in the 1920s. The bathing water occupies an area of 0.39 km² with a maximum depth of 6 metres. The western part of the lake is designated as a fishing area and is prohibited for swimming. The lake has no surface inflow and is classified as oligotrophic with a very good ecological status.

Natural lake formed from a gravel pit. Surface area 0.39 km². Maximum water depth 6 metres. Elevation of water surface 144 metres above sea level. Water level fluctuations less than 0.5 metres during bathing season. No surface inflow.

Location

Jena, Germany. The monitoring station is located at coordinates 11.5798° longitude and 50.9120° latitude (ETRS89 system). Parking is available.

Water Quality

Ecological status class ÖKZ 1 (very good). Oligotrophic trophic status. No wastewater discharges, industrial discharges, cooling water inputs, or untreated rainwater discharges identified. No pollution sources from agricultural runoff, sealed surfaces, residential areas, industrial areas, or camping sites.
