Coastal waters. Bathing area extends 1.354 square kilometres. Pebble beach with articulated coastline. Mean seafloor slope of 2.3% from shoreline to 5-metre isobath. Medium-grain sediments ranging from 0.18 mm to over 2 mm.

Location

Roseto Capo Spulico, Cosenza province, Calabria region. The bathing area is located in front of agricultural territories between the mouth of Canale Cardona and Fosso Perlo.

Water quality classification: excellent. Identified short-duration pollution source: runoff from agricultural areas via Fosso Perlo mouth.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events from runoff in agricultural areas. No cyanobacterial or algal blooms recorded in the past four years.
