Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2024 is available in compliance with Decreto-Lei 135/09 (amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012). No short-term pollution events occurred in 2023. Bathing was not advised against or prohibited on any days in 2024 due to short-term pollution. An alert system is in place.

Risks

Potential microbiological pollution sources include diffuse sources upstream from agricultural or forestry activities, solid waste from beach activities, flora and fauna, and high user numbers. Cyanobacteria proliferation is unlikely. The risk of pollution occurrence is considered low based on historical water quality data.
