Water

Lake Skaistis (Skaisčio ežeras), a water body classified as Type 3 in ecological typology. Average depth 1.5 meters, maximum depth 2.5 meters, beach length 50 meters. The lake is part of the Neris river sub-basin (Neries mažųjų intakų pabaseinis) within the Nemunas river basin. The water body has good ecological status and meets good ecological potential requirements.

Location

Located in Trakų district in the Vilnius region, Lithuania, within the Neris river sub-basin. The beach is situated within the administrative area of Trakų seniūnija. Parking and basic facilities are available at the site.

Facilities

One toilet facility, one changing cabin. Waste management includes garbage bins and waste collection containers. Dogs are permitted but bathing with animals is prohibited. Maximum capacity approximately 100 visitors during peak season under favorable weather conditions.

Water Quality

Water quality classification from 2018 to 2024 consistently met excellent quality standards according to EU Directive 2006/7/EB. The lake has good ecological status. Visual monitoring of blue-green algae has been conducted; phosphorus and nitrogen levels were not tested. Eutrophication is assessed as naturally occurring or resulting from human impact.

Risks

Short-term pollution possible during heavy rainfall events (liūtys), with pollution typically disappearing within 1-2 days after rain ends. Potential sources include surface runoff from poor weather conditions. Concentrated pollution sources from nearby residential settlements due to improper human activities. Dispersed pollution sources from surface rainwater runoff. Temporary pollution sources from recreational and sports activities, boats, and improper visitor behavior.
