Sandy beach with fine quartz-feldspar and calcareous-flint sand, backed by artificial rocky outcrops. The beach has a moderate slope of 3% both above and below water. The surrounding area is urbanized with a railway line passing nearby. The beach is partly public and partly operated as equipped bathing facilities with associated activities.

Water

Coastal bathing water (Pesaro_Fano water body). Distance from mean tidal level to safe water limit is 80 metres. Astronomical tide range is 30–50 centimetres. Area covered is 1.29832 hectares.

Location

Pesaro, Marche region, Pesaro Urbino province, Italy. Beach width averages 60 metres. Located at railway crossing at kilometre 240.9 on State Road 16.

Facilities

Equipped bathing establishments and associated activities. Public access to animals is prohibited during the bathing season under Municipal Regulations. Municipal Police manages the area (tel 0721 387800).

Water Quality

Water quality classified as category E. The Pesaro municipal sewage system comprises mixed collectors conveying wastewater to five treatment plants across the territory. The largest plant is located at Borgheria near the mouth of the Foglia River, serving the urban centre of Pesaro with capacity of approximately 90,000 population equivalents and daily flow of approximately 20,000 cubic metres per day using biological treatment. This plant is managed by Marche Multiservizi and has undergone 24 annual monitoring controls for Table 1 parameters and 6 annual controls for Table 3 parameters over the last 4 years, all in compliance with legal limits. Some mixed urban wastewater collectors not connected to Borgheria plant discharge via disinfection stations into the Foglia River and Genica stream; some of these have been partially remediated through connection of residential buildings to new black water sewers flowing to Borgheria treatment plant.
