Colonia Gioventù Italiana is a sandy beach in Pesaro with fine quartz-feldspar and limestone-flint sand. The beach has a gentle slope of 3% on both the emerged and submerged portions and is protected by artificial rocky outcrops. The distance between average low and high water marks (safe swimming limit) is 80 metres, with astronomical tidal range of 30–50 cm. The surrounding area is densely urbanised.

Adriatic Sea (Pesaro_Fano water body). Water area extends 0.36373 km². The beach spans 80 metres from average low to high water mark.

Location

Pesaro, province of Pesaro Urbino, Marche region. The beach is 75 metres wide on average.

Facilities

Part of the beach is freely accessible, part is operated as a paid beach establishment with facilities. Dogs and other animals are prohibited on the beach during the bathing season under Municipal Beach Usage Regulations (2002).

Water Quality

Water quality classification: E (poorest category). The main treatment plant at Borgheria serves the Pesaro urban area with a capacity of approximately 90,000 population equivalents and a flow rate of 20,000 m³/day using biological treatment. Monitoring in the four years prior to 2012 found all measured parameters compliant with legal limits (24 annual checks of table 1 parameters and 6 annual checks of table 3 parameters under Legislative Decree 152/2006). Mixed urban sewage collectors with disinfection stations discharge into the Foglia river and Genica stream; some have been partially remediated through connection to the new black water sewerage system.
