A sandy beach with fine quartz-feldspar and calcareous sand located near Pesaro, featuring a gentle slope of approximately 3% both above and below the waterline. The beach is protected by artificial rocky outcrops and extends approximately 80 meters between mean low and high water marks, with tidal variation of 30 to 50 centimetres. The surrounding area is characterized by urban development and a railway line passage.

Coastal marine water body designated as Pesaro_Fano. The beach has an average width of 80 metres. The distance between mean low water and high water (safe water limit) is 80 metres. Astronomical tide range is 30 to 50 centimetres.

Location

Pesaro, Pesaro Urbino Province, Marche Region, Italy. The bathing area is located at the railway overpass at kilometre 242.8 of the SS.16 road. Part of the beach is publicly accessible and part is under concession to bathing establishments.

Facilities

Public beach areas and equipped bathing establishments with ancillary activities. Dogs and other animals are prohibited from the beach during the bathing season according to Municipal Regulations on the use of state-owned coastal areas (Municipal Council Resolution No. 97 of 28 May 2002).

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Category C (poor). Classification rating: E. The municipal sewage network in Pesaro comprises mixed-type collectors conveying wastewater to five treatment plants in the territory. The largest facility is located at Borgheria near the mouth of the Foglia River, serving Pesaro's urban area with a capacity of approximately 90,000 population equivalents and a flow rate of approximately 20,000 cubic metres per day using biological treatment. Over a four-year period, the facility underwent 24 annual controls of parameters under Italian Legislative Decree 152/2006 Annex V Table 1 and 6 annual controls of Table 3 parameters, all compliant with legal limits. Some mixed urban wastewater collectors not connected to the Borgheria treatment plant discharge with disinfection stations into the Foglia River and Genica stream; some have been partially remedied through connection of building areas to new separate sewers directing to the Borgheria facility.
