Osmate Beach is a free public beach located on the western shore of Lake Monate in the Cadrezzate con Osmate municipality. The beach is accessible on foot from the parking area via a descending pathway with stairs. The beach has a width of 50 meters and is situated near the town centre. The water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data from 2018–2022.

Water

Lake Monate. The bathing area extends 0.438 km with an altitude of 273 meters above sea level. The lake is part of the Ticino River basin.

Location

Located in Cadrezzate con Osmate (Osmate district) on the western shore of Lake Monate, near the town centre. Free parking is available, with beach access via a descending pathway and stairs from the parking area.

Facilities

Free parking. Dogs are not permitted on the beach but may access the beach along the cycling and pedestrian path on Via Leonardo Da Vinci if kept on a leash. Pontoon for pedal boats and cycling/pedestrian path available.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent for the period 2018–2022. The Osmate district is served by wastewater treatment in the AG01211101 agglomeration with municipal and consortial sewer networks. The treatment plant complies with discharge limits required by regulations. No anomalous events have been recorded.

Risks

Possible water quality concerns from unfavourable meteorological conditions such as heavy atmospheric events, land runoff, water pooling, and spills. Possible accidental or unauthorized discharges of wastewater or polluting debris may occur. Seasonal algal blooms are possible. Cyanobacteria are the potentially toxic species involved in any phytoplankton proliferation, which can cause adverse reactions such as skin rashes and gastrointestinal disorders.
