A sandy beach with a low, gently sloping seafloor and dune ridges behind. The beach is 40 metres wide and located near a port structure. The area experiences a dry subtropical climate with high summer temperatures and modest winter rainfall. The coastal zone shows signs of anthropogenic impact due to urbanisation, with notable population increases during summer months and visible erosion phenomena.

Part of the Canale di Sicilia (Strait of Sicily), coastal section 15. The seafloor is sandy and gradually sloping. The bathing area is located within a designated bathing fraction and is free public beach equipped with facilities.

Location

Vittoria, Sicily (Province of Ragusa). The bathing area is designated as Spiaggia Lungomare – Via del Mare and extends 1.06 kilometres. Coordinates: Y = 36.8927, X = 14.4257. Contact: Comune di Vittoria (0932 514111), Capitaneria di Porto di Pozzallo (0932 953327).

Facilities

The beach is a free equipped public beach. Animals are permitted with no municipal bans or ordinances prohibiting access. The area is used exclusively for bathing.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. No anomalous situations have been recorded in recent years. Potential pollution sources include primary-treated wastewater discharged to sea via submarine outfall, stormwater discharge, and overflow structures. Agricultural activities, intense urbanisation, and untreated urban discharges are identified as possible pollution causes. Malfunction of the submarine outfall pipe is a potential impact.

Risks

Heavy precipitation can cause overflow of discharge into bathing waters. Visible erosion phenomena are present due to anthropogenic works.
