Maganuco is a sandy beach enclosed by low, extensive rocky promontories with high dune ridges behind it covered in dense Mediterranean vegetation. The beach is 60 metres wide and extends for 1.6 kilometres. It is easily accessible and free to use, with no equipped facilities.

Part of the Strait of Sicily (Canale di Sicilia), coast section 16. The area experiences a dry subtropical climate with high summer temperatures and modest winter precipitation.

Location

Modica, Sicily, in the Province of Ragusa. The beach is located between Punta Religione and Capo Passero. Coordinates: Y=36.7160, X=14.8128.

Facilities

No equipped facilities. The beach is free and unequipped. Animals are permitted; there are no municipal signs or ordinances prohibiting access.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The bathing area is not served by a sewerage system. Potential pollution sources include agricultural activities and untreated urban discharges. Heavy precipitation can cause overflow of stormwater discharge into bathing waters. No anomalous situations have occurred in recent years.

Risks

Heavy rainfall can cause stormwater overflow into bathing waters. Coastal erosion is evident in the area.
