Spiaggia Madonetta is a bathing area in Varazze, Liguria, characterized by a mixed rocky zone alternating with pebbly beaches. The area is almost entirely rocky. It achieved an Excellent water quality classification for the period 2008–2011.

Coastal water body (Varazze–Arenzano water body) with mountainous terrain and low stability characteristics. The zone is almost entirely rocky, alternating with pebbly beaches.

Location

Varazze, Savona Province, Liguria Region, Italy. The bathing area extends 1.273 square kilometres.

Facilities

Public beaches and private beach establishments with related services are present in the area. Animals are permitted access to the area.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008–2011). The Ligurian Sea is not characterised by cyanobacterial blooms due to prevailing oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal strain proliferation have been recorded in the past four years.

Risks

River mouths (Rio Forca, Rio Inferno, Rio Corvo) are identified as sources of pollution impact on the bathing water.
