S. Elia is a coastal bathing area located near residential structures in the S. Elia village, with increased visitor traffic during summer months. The area is characterized by cliffs with inlets and a small gulf surrounding a shipyard. The bathing area is currently interdicted from swimming.

Location

Santa Flavia, Palermo Province, Sicily. The bathing area extends 600 meters along the coast. Coordinates: starting point 38.0973, 13.54; ending point 38.0934, 13.5405. Station coordinates: 38.0961, 13.5394.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good (2019–2024). Bathing interdiction is in place. The area is located near zones of high human development and is at risk of cyanobacterial proliferation events.

Risks

Ostreopsis ovata identified in the area. Risk of cyanobacterial proliferation events due to proximity to densely populated zones.
