Strandbad Rodenbach is a 2.6-hectare artificial lake formed during the construction of the A66 motorway northwest of Hanau. Originally used for gravel extraction and then as a fish pond, it opened as a public beach in 1985. The lake has a maximum depth of 4.0 metres and an average depth of 2.8 metres, making it vulnerable to rapid warming in summer and nutrient release from sediments. The sandy beach stretches approximately 245 metres long and 25 metres wide on the southeastern shore, with surrounding trees and shrubs. Average visitor numbers reach 200 swimmers.
