Suchý Rybník

Suchý rybník is a small bathing water body located in the Czech Republic with a surface area of 4 hectares and elevation of 645 meters. The bathing site features grassy beaches with a length of 300 meters and a largely forested catchment area. The water body benefits from the presence of an upper pond (Horní rybník) that acts as a natural treatment basin.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is satisfactory. Microbiological contamination rated as excellent. Phosphorus content meets general regulatory requirements but does not meet long-term requirements for bathing water catchments. Cyanobacteria occurrence is very low. Occasional exceedances of chlorophyll-a limits observed. Transparency is chronically reduced to very low levels, likely due to humic substances from the heavily forested catchment rather than algal blooms or excess chlorophyll. No short-term contamination recorded.

Risks

No risk to swimmers reported. Diffuse pollution sources identified: recreational facilities on both banks, cattle grazing in the inflow area (medium to high risk for microbial contamination and phosphorus input), and internal sources from recreational activities and fish stocking (low to medium microbial risk, medium to high phosphorus input).
