The bathing water is influenced by the Garigliano River mouth, which receives direct and indirect wastewater discharges from urban sewage networks.

Location

Sessa Aurunca, Caserta Province, Campania Region, Italy. The bathing area is situated at the mouth of the Garigliano River.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Poor (2020–2023). The bathing water is affected by wastewater discharges from the Garigliano River mouth, receiving both direct and indirect untreated urban sewage from networks on the left bank. Part of these sewage networks are served by treatment plants, while others lack treatment. The Sessa Aurunca municipality operates one biological treatment plant with activated sludge, located at Frazione S. Carlo. Untreated urban wastewater discharges occur via tributaries including Canale Trenta Palmi, Collettore Punta Fiume, Rio Travata, and Rio della Selva. Partially treated wastewater from scattered dwellings is discharged via Canale Trenta Palmi and Collettore Punta Fiume.
