Torre Pedrera - Cavallaccio is a sandy beach located in Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, extending approximately 1 km along the Adriatic coast. The beach is protected by a series of parallel emerged breakwaters, each approximately 100 m long and spaced about 20 meters apart. It is a high-tourism area with numerous beach establishments and lifeguard services during the bathing season. The beach width varies between 60–100 m.

13 beach establishments with first aid services, toilets accessible for people with disabilities, hot showers, no architectural barriers, sports facilities, and food service points. A lifeguard service is present during the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent (reference years 2019–2022). Escherichia coli measured at 90th percentile: 104 CFU/100ml; 95th percentile: 165 CFU/100ml. Intestinal enterococci at 90th percentile: 10 CFU/100ml; 95th percentile: 10 CFU/100ml. An anomalous situation occurred on 26 July 2022 with exceedance of Escherichia coli limits, classified as an anomalous situation by the European Commission. Stormwater discharge no. 28 from the white separated sewer network discharges directly into the sea near the bathing area. A safety pump is installed to manage accidental discharge of wastewater and first-rainfall collection.

Risks

Stormwater discharge (white separated sewer network no. 28) can discharge urban runoff during intense weather events. One anomalous exceedance of Escherichia coli limits occurred in 2022. No cyanobacterial eutrophication phenomena have been reported. No phytoplankton or macroalgae bloom events were recorded during 2019–2022.
