Tourony Beach is a bathing site located in Trégastel, Brittany. The beach has a large 6 km² watershed with high hydrographic density. Location

Tourony Beach is located in the commune of Trégastel within the Lannion-Trégor Communauté territorial authority in Brittany, France.

Water Quality

Bathing water quality is monitored by the ARS (Regional Health Authority). E.coli concentrations have been tracked from 1997 to 2023. The recreational shellfish harvesting site at Tourony has been classified in a restricted zone due to E.coli contamination levels. Water quality is influenced by rainfall and multiple pollution sources including wastewater collection and treatment systems, stormwater runoff, and agricultural activity.

Risks

E.coli contamination from wastewater systems, stormwater drainage, and agricultural sources. Ulva (sea lettuce) accumulation has been recorded at the Trégastel site. The recreational shellfish harvesting zone is subject to closure due to bacterial contamination.
