Traunsee, Traunkirchen

Austria Lake 1 - Excellent

Traunsee is Austria's deepest lake at 191 metres, located on the northern edge of the Limestone Alps with an area of 24.4 square kilometres. The lake is strongly flushed by the water-rich Traun River, which flows through it from south to north, resulting in lower summer water temperatures compared to other lakes in the region. Turbidity, particularly in the southern part of the lake, originates from suspended sediments and naturally occurring limestone precipitation.
