Varna-Asparuhovo Center is a bathing beach located in the northeastern Black Sea coastal region of Bulgaria. The beach features a very wide sandy strip with fine-grained sand. It is situated in a highly urbanized area near the city of Varna. The beach is approximately 1200 meters long and accessible by personal and public transport. Water quality monitoring has been conducted since 2007, with recent years showing good water quality classification.

Water

Sea water body located in the Black Sea Basin. The water body is identified as BG2BS000C005 (Varna Bay). The beach has a 1200-meter shoreline accessible for bathing. The area is influenced by the Danube River, which affects salinity levels in the northern part of the bay with a lag of approximately one month relative to maximum water levels recorded at Ruse.

The beach is located in Varna, Bulgaria, in the Asparuhovo neighborhood. Geographic coordinates: N 43°10'32'' E 27°54'52''. Access is available by personal and public transport to the accessible terrain in the Varna area.

5 lifeguard posts, 3 sanitary facilities, showers, changing rooms, 1 medical post. Accessible facilities for people with mobility limitations.

Water Quality

2007: Not compliant with mandatory values (Poor). 2008–2010: Compliant with guide values (Excellent). 2011–2014: Compliant with mandatory values (Good or Sufficient). 2015–2019: Sufficient water quality. 2020–2021: Good water quality. The bathing water is part of water body BG2BS000C005 in the Black Sea Basin.

Risks

Streams passing through Varna territory are potential pollution sources carrying municipal waste, oil products, and suspended substances during rainfall. These streams are not monitored under regular monitoring programs. Intense maritime traffic from Varna Port East is a pollution source for oil products and general extractable substances. Coastal processes including abrasion and landslide activity are present in the area.
