Varna South Beach is a relatively small sandy beach with varying width and fine-grained sand, located in the northeastern Black Sea coastal region of Bulgaria. The beach is situated in a heavily urbanized area within the city of Varna. The beach strip measures approximately 400 meters in length and is accessible by personal and public transport. Water temperatures range from 22°C to 31°C across the summer and early autumn months.

Sea water body (Black Sea). Part of Varna Bay (WaterBodyID BG2BS000C005) within the Black Sea Basin. The coastal zone is characterized by diverse relief, with the beach situated in a low-lying area between coastal plateaus. The area experiences significant abrasion and accumulation processes affecting the coastal strip.

Location

Varna, Bulgaria, northeastern Black Sea coastal region. Located within the city of Varna in the southeastern part of the Varna municipality. Accessible by personal vehicle and public transport.

Facilities

One lifeguard post, sanitary facilities, showers, changing rooms, one medical station, accessible facilities for people with disabilities.

Official monitoring conducted June through September. Temperature data recorded for June, July, August, and September.

Main pollution sources include streams flowing through Varna city carrying waste, petroleum products, and suspended solids; a city sewer overflow at the breakwater allowing direct contamination with untreated wastewater; and intensive maritime traffic.
