Vau is a coastal bathing water located on an urban beach with intensive use in Portimão. The beach features golden sand and eroded cliffs that form numerous recesses along the 334-metre beach front. The area experiences a tidal range of 3.4 metres and mean wave height of 0.5 metres, with predominant northwest winds.
