Via Cucinotti is a coastal bathing water located in Rometta, Sicily, between the Boncoddo and Saponara streams. The unconfined marine water features a predominantly pebble seabed that slopes gradually and regularly. The emerged beach consists of medium sand and gravel, while the submerged beach is composed of fine sand. The beach width ranges from 50 to 100 metres and experiences generalised erosion along the shoreline, which is countered by several breakwater barriers.

Unconfined marine water with a pebble-dominated seabed of regular gradual slope. The area covers approximately 0.38 square kilometres. The submerged beach consists of fine sand.

Location

Rometta, Province of Messina, Sicily. The bathing area extends between the Boncoddo and Saponara streams. The competent authority is the Municipality of Rometta, located at Piazza Margherita, 98043 Rometta (ME).

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The bathing water is monitored at coordinates 38.230558° N, 15.395717° E. Wastewater from the Rometta Marea district is conveyed to a treatment plant with discharge through a submarine pipeline from the Boncoddo stream. Wastewater from the Sant'Andrea district is conveyed to a treatment plant with discharge into the Saponara stream, located approximately 2.6 kilometres from the bathing area. Possible discharge from wastewater lifting and conveyance tanks in the Rometta Marea district.

Risks

The beach is subject to generalised erosion phenomena along the entire shoreline.
