Via del Mare is a coastal bathing water in Rometta, Sicily, characterized by unconfined marine water with a predominantly pebbly seabed that slopes gently and regularly. The emerged beach consists of medium sand and gravel, while the submerged beach is composed of fine sand. The beach width ranges from 20 to 85 meters and is subject to generalized erosion along the entire shoreline, which is counteracted by several breakwater barriers.

Unconfined marine water. Seabed is predominantly pebbly with gentle, regular slope and constant gradient. Beach width: 20–85 meters. Water body extends 0.700 km. Coastal plain with low stability (E3 category). Located in the hydrographic district of Sicily.

Location

Rometta, Province of Messina, Sicily. The bathing area extends between Torrente Boncoddo and Torrente Saponara, located between Golfo di Milazzo and Capo Rasocolmo. Coordinates: 38.232513°N, 15.402087°E.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. No bathing prohibitions are in place. Wastewater from Rometta Marea fraction is conveyed to a treatment plant with discharge through a submarine pipe from Torrente Boncoddo. Wastewater from Sant'Andrea fraction is conveyed to a treatment plant with discharge into Torrente Saponara. Possible spillage from nine wastewater lifting and conveyance tanks near the bathing area has been identified.
