Biscarrosse Océan is a bathing area located in the Landes department of southwestern France, on the Atlantic coast. Water Quality

Bathing water quality is monitored through official health control (contrôle sanitaire) and self-monitoring (autocontrôle) programs conducted since 2000. The bathing area is classified according to the 2006/7/CE directive standards with the goal of achieving at minimum 'sufficient quality' classification.

Risks

Potential risks include fecal origin pollution, leptospirosis from rodent bacteria, dermatitis from parasites, jellyfish stings, cyanobacteria in freshwater, Ostreopsis spp algae in seawater, amoebae in warm water, and green algae proliferation producing hydrogen sulfide.
