Vorder Oder Haussee Obersdorf

Germany Lake 1 - Excellent

Vordersee, also known as Haussee, is a natural lake near Obersdorf approximately 50 km east of Berlin's city centre in the terminal moraine landscape of the Buckow Hill and Basin District within the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park. The lake was formed during the last glacial advance when melting ice blocks created its basin. With a surface area of 60 hectares and maximum depth of 8.2 metres, the lake has experienced gradual infilling through sedimentation. Water clarity has improved significantly since the early 1990s, with current summer visibility depths ranging from 1 to 4 metres. The lake receives inflow from the Buchwargraben to the west and Hausseegraben to the south, draining northeastward via the Stöbber into the Oder River.
