Wutzsee Lindow Schoenbirken

Germany Lake 1 - Excellent

Wutzsee is located approximately 14 km east of Neuruppin in the Wittstock-Ruppiner Heathland within the Stechlin-Ruppiner Land Nature Park. The lake is nearly 3 km long and almost 20 m deep, formed at the end of the last ice age when meltwater carved deep channels into frozen ground beneath glacial ice. The Lindower Rhin flows through the lake, connecting it to Gudelacksee, Möllensee, and the main Rhin river. The lake exhibits excellent water quality with summer visibility depths between 1.1 and 2.5 m, indicating relatively low nutrient levels.
