The bathing area is located in Melissa, Calabria, in the province of Crotone. It is situated in the area facing the inhabited centre of Melissa.

Water quality classification: excellent. The water body is identified as Strongoli - Melissa. Wastewater treatment is managed by the Torre Melissa purification plant.

Risks

The Torrente San Giacomo stream mouth has been identified as a source of potential pollution. Accidental failures or overflow of the Torre Melissa purification plant are possible short-duration pollution events. No cyanobacterial proliferation events have occurred in the past four years. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation has been recorded.
