A sandy beach located 100 meters south of the Saline River mouth in Montesilvano, Pescara, Abruzzo. The beach consists of over 99% sand with a D50 grain size of 0.244 mm and lacks dune systems. The area is surrounded by tourist facilities including hotels, beach establishments, shops, and recreational zones. The bathing water is classified as good quality.

Water

Coastal water body (Acque Costiere). The monitored section measures 1.15 km in length and covers approximately 47,990 square meters out of the total beach area of 187,131 square meters.

Location

Montesilvano, Pescara Province, Abruzzo Region. The bathing area extends 1,150 meters between the Saline River mouth and Via Leopardi. Parking is available.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good. The Saline River mouth is present in the surveyed area. Treated wastewater from the Montesilvano treatment plant is discharged into the Saline River via a coastal collector system. No cyanobacterial blooms have been recorded in waters off the Abruzzo coast. Summer phytoplankton blooms are scarce, with occasional dinoflagellate blooms of low toxicity previously observed.

Risks

River mouth discharge is identified as a pollution source. Short-duration pollution events are under evaluation using modeling approaches.
