A sandy beach located in Silvi Marina, Abruzzo, with over 99% sand composition and medium granulometry. The beach has a nearly flat slope of approximately 4–5% and an average width of about 70 metres. The surrounding area is occupied by urban settlements and structures related to summer tourism and bathing activities.

Coastal marine water. The bathing area covers approximately 3,200 metres of beach length with an average width of 70 metres. Water flow and depth characteristics are not specified.

Location

Silvi Marina, in the Silvi municipality, Teramo Province, Abruzzo. The bathing area is situated within a 3,200-metre stretch of beach called Arenile Sud, part of a 7-kilometre coastal section. The monitoring point ARTA n. 76 is located in this zone.

Facilities

All bathing establishments in the area provide first aid assistance, sanitary facilities, and additional services. Several restaurants and sports facilities with beach volleyball courts are present. Pet access is regulated by regional law L.R. n. 19/07-04-2014. Signage for bathing and navigation safety is regularly present.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is Excellent. The water body is part of the Piomba river basin (CI_PIOMBA_2). Marine waters in the Abruzzese area have not presented characteristic cyanobacterial blooms. Rare algal blooms occur in summer; past years showed some dinoflagellate blooms with scarce or absent toxic species.

Risks

River mouth discharges are identified as a pollution source. Short-duration pollution events are under study with appropriate modelling approaches. No anomalous events have been recorded.
