Spiaggia Magazzolo is a sandy beach in Ribera, Sicily, with gentle slopes in both the emerged and submerged zones. The beach is situated in a natural, uncultivated area characterized by Mediterranean vegetation and intensive woodland. The water is classified as excellent quality.

Coastal marine water. The bathing area extends 0.362 square kilometers along the Magazzolo River basin coast section of the Sicilian Channel.

Location

Ribera, Agrigento province, Sicily. The beach is located along the Canale di Sicilia coastline, coast section number 14. The responsible municipal authority is in Corso Umberto I° 30, Ribera 92016.

Facilities

Information on available facilities (lifeguards, toilets, showers, disabled access, warning flags) is not documented. Animals are permitted to access the beach with no prohibition signs or ordinances in place.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent. The area is affected by discharges of treated and untreated wastewater. There is no wastewater collection network. Treatment facilities do not comply with EU Directive 91/271/CE standards.

Risks

Urban stormwater discharge and white water runoff. Discharges of treated and untreated wastewater. Exceptional meteorological and marine weather conditions can trigger temporary swimming bans. No cyanobacteria proliferation, macroalgae bloom, or toxic phytoplankton events have been recorded in the previous four years.
