A fine sand beach with a gentle 3% slope, both above and below the waterline, protected by artificial rocky outcrops. The beach extends approximately 80 metres from mean-low to mean-high water. The surrounding area is densely urbanised with a railway line passing through.

Water quality classification is E. The area is served by combined public sewerage connected to a treatment plant with a design capacity of 35,000 population equivalents, located at C.da S. Leonardo. COD, BOD5, and suspended solids parameters were consistently compliant in 2006–2007. Microbiological controls in 2008–2010 were compliant. E. coli monitoring is conducted at the mouth station.

Risks

Accidental failures and overflow from a highway toll plaza lifting station (Casello autostradale Ciarma) identified as pollution sources. No cyanobacteria proliferation reported. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation reported.
