This bathing water is located 350 metres south of the Foro River mouth near Ortona in the Abruzzo region. It is a sandy beach with a width of 35 metres and an estimated 35,306 annual bathers. The water body is classified as coastal waters in a low-stability plains area. The beach is situated in an area with modest urban settlement.

Beach establishments (stabilimenti balneari), disabled access services, food and beverage points. Animals are not permitted.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Poor (Scarsa). River mouths identified as a pollution source. Wastewater treatment provided by Ortona Foro treatment plant with secondary advanced treatment. Short-duration pollution events currently under study for appropriate modelling approach.

Risks

River mouth pollution source. Short-duration pollution events under investigation. Occasional dinoflagellate blooms noted in past years with low or no toxic species presence during summer months. No cyanobacterial blooms or macroalgae proliferation events recorded.
