400 MT SX FIUME CRATI is a sandy beach bathing area located on the Calabrian coast near Cassano all'Ionio. The beach fronts a delta area with a mean seabed slope of 2.5% from the waterline to the 5-meter isobath. The beach features series of underwater bars and ridges with medium grain sediments ranging from 0.018 to 2 mm. The water quality is classified as good.

Coastal water body in the Rossano Cassano Allo Ionio river basin. Sandy beach with mean seabed slope of 2.5% from waterline to 5-meter isobath. Series of underwater bars and ridges present. Medium grain sediments range from 0.018 to 2 mm. Bathing area extent: 0.299 square kilometers.

Location

Cassano all'Ionio, Cosenza Province, Calabria Region. The bathing area is located 400 meters to the left of the Crati River mouth.

Season

Monitoring period: November.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good. The sea and inland waters are not affected by algal blooms or cyanobacteria. No specific mitigation measures are currently active.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified: Crati River mouth outlet and accidental treatment plant malfunction or overflow from the biological wastewater treatment plant at Cassano allo Jonio (Laghi di Sibari location). Runoff from agricultural areas identified as a pollution cause.
