Äijänniemi beach is a shallow natural stone and sand beach several hundred metres long, facing south. It is suitable for children due to its shallow water. The surrounding area consists of dry esker forest used for outdoor recreation.

Location

Äijänniemenkatu 21, 48910 Kotka. Parking is available within a short walking distance from the beach.

Facilities

Changing cabin, toilet (Bajamaja-wc), beach volleyball court, picnic tables, children's swing area, two rescue rings and ropes. No lifeguard supervision. Toilet is open only during the official swimming season from mid-June to end of August.

Season

Official swimming season runs from mid-June to end of August. The beach is open 24 hours year-round.

Water Quality

Water quality classification has varied: good in 2021 and 2022, excellent in 2019 and 2020. The most recent sample taken on 12 August 2025 showed good quality with no blue-green algae detected.
