Alaušo bathing area is a public beach located in Utena District, Lithuania, within the Šventoji River basin. The beach has a natural shoreline structure with fine-grained sand and natural vegetation including reeds and other water plants along the margins. The beach is approximately 131 metres long with an average water depth of 1.3 metres. The bathing area has an active recreation zone for sports and games.

Water

Alaušas Lake, part of the Nemuno River Basin and Šventoji River sub-basin. Average water depth is 1.3 metres. Beach length is 131 metres. Sediment composition is predominantly mud and sand. The water body is classified as Type 3 with very good ecological status meeting good ecological potential requirements.

Facilities

Outdoor toilet available. Recreational zone for sports and games. 14 waste bins and 4 municipal waste containers (1.1 cubic metre capacity). Three secondary materials containers at two beach locations. Maximum visitor capacity approximately 300 people during peak season. Pets are prohibited during the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality from 2018 to 2024 met excellent quality requirements. Water clarity is monitored. The water body's ecological status is very good. Phosphorus and nitrogen levels were not tested. No systematic pollution sources exist, though potential contamination risk from a nearby cafe is noted.

Risks

Possible short-term pollution from heavy rainfall, which typically clears within 1–2 days after rain ends. Potential contamination from an adjacent cafe or irresponsible human behaviour.
