Water

Heavily modified reservoir (Type 2) in the Šventosios river sub-basin, part of the Nemunas river basin. Average water depth 1.3 metres, beach length 84 metres. Shoreline composed of fine-grained yellow sand with natural vegetation including reeds, sedges, and yellow flag iris. Predominant sediment types: mud and sand. The water body has a natural shoreline with grassland vegetation and trees in the rest zone.

Location

Utenos district, Lithuania, in Utenos municipality, Utenos administrative unit. Monitoring coordinates: X=55.5163, Y=25.6351.

Facilities

One outdoor toilet, rest zone with grass and trees, café nearby. Waste management includes 2 rubbish bins, 1 communal waste container, and 3 recycling bins. Maximum capacity approximately 100 people during peak season under favourable weather conditions. Pets prohibited during bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2018-2024 monitoring period). Monitoring conducted according to EU Directive 2006/7/EB. Phosphorus and nitrogen content not tested; water transparency was monitored. Water quality meets excellent quality requirements.

Risks

Possible pollution source: café located adjacent to the bathing area. Short-term pollution possible during heavy rainfall, typically disappearing within 1–2 days after rain ends. Potential negative impact from accidental pollution or irresponsible human behaviour.
