Altausseersee West

Austria Lake 1 - Excellent

Altausseer See West is a typical alpine lake located in the Styrian Salzkammergut at the foot of the Toten Gebirge mountains east of the village of Altaussee. The lake covers approximately 2 km² and is fed primarily by underwater springs with no significant above-ground inflows.

Water

Alpine lake approximately 2 km² in area. Mean depth 34 metres, maximum depth 84 metres. Available shoreline for swimming approximately 250 metres. Water renewal time 13 years.

Location

Eastern Austria, Styrian Salzkammergut region, east of Altaussee village. The bathing area is located on the western shore near the lake outlet, with a hotel and campground (currently non-operational) in the immediate vicinity.

Showers and toilets available. Waste disposal facilities present.
