Altwarmbüchener See is a recreational lake located at the edge of Altwarmbüchen Moor in the northeast of Hannover. Three-quarters of the lake lies within Hannover city limits, with the northern quarter on the territory of Isernhagen municipality. The lake is surrounded by forests, meadows, and residential areas north of the Lahe landfill recultivation site. Two bathing areas with long sandy beaches are located on the northern shore. The lake supports activities including swimming, sailing, windsurfing, walking, and nature observation.
