Location

Trois-Ilets municipality, Martinique. Six bathing zones are located: Méridien, Bakoua (mid-beach), Anse Mitan (facing windsurfing rental), Anse à l'Ane at Rue de la Dorade, Anse à l'Ane facing Nid Tropical restaurant, and Anse à l'Ane at Frantour Hotel.

Facilities

Anse Mitan features showers, toilets near the rescue post, a restaurant (Le Baracuda), and a water sports club (Ti Case Nautic). Bakoua has an organised beach and a boat landing. Anse à l'Ane has a fishing village and a basketball court.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored by the ARS (Regional Health Authority) and DIREN. The bathing water vulnerability profile type is classified as type 2, indicating known or easily identifiable contamination sources. Monitoring includes bacteriological parameters in accordance with European Directive 2006/7/CE, which replaced the 1976 directive and simplified controls to two indicator organisms.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include collective sanitation systems, non-collective sanitation installations (individual treatment systems), stormwater networks, and various activities. Moored boats are present at Anse Mitan and Anse à l'Ane.
