Baie du Levant (Anse Tabarly) is a 200-metre-long bathing water located in Toulon. The site is easily accessible with nearby parking. It functions primarily as a water body for a sailing school rather than a traditional bathing beach. Water renewal is adequate and the risk of cyanobacteria or macroalgae proliferation is low. Bathing water samples have consistently demonstrated excellent quality since 2015.

Closed bay configuration, 200 metres long, oriented southeast. Watershed area: 0.2 km². The site has adequate water renewal.

Location

Commune of Toulon, France. The site is easily accessible with proximity to a large parking area.

Facilities

Rescue post with flag system (red and violet flags indicate temporary bathing prohibition). Signage panels display temporary bathing bans during closure periods of the rescue post.

Season

Active management monitoring runs from June to September. Daily monitoring of the pumping station and weekly bacteriological analysis of water quality occur during this period.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent based on ARS (health authority) sampling results since 2015. Vulnerability index is medium but overall site sensitivity is classified as low. Bacterial analysis is performed weekly during the active management season.

Risks

Low risk of algal proliferation. Potential pollution sources include overflow from the school's pumping station during heavy rainfall or malfunction, and stormwater runoff from the nearby Eygoutier coastal stream. Pollution from these sources would typically affect water quality for no more than 72 hours.
