Plage de Source Ouest is a 300-metre artificial beach in Toulon with a semi-enclosed configuration and south-facing orientation. The beach is easily accessible with proximity to a large car park and numerous nearby restaurants. Water quality from 2015 to 2022 was classified as excellent, with 2023 results showing good quality.

Monitoring and management programme applies from June to September.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent from 2015 to 2022 based on ARS monitoring. 2023 results classified the bathing water as good quality. Vulnerability index is classified as moderate. Sensitivity level is occasional. Low risk of cyanobacteria, macroalgae, or phytoplankton proliferation, with no history of algal blooms.

Risks

Potential bacterial pollution from the coastal river L'Eygoutier due to street runoff, accidental wastewater discharge, storm overflow, and private sewage systems. Risk of overflow from the Mourillon Centre pumping station due to dysfunction or network overload. Potential dysfunction of sewage collection installations at nearby facilities including rescue post, restaurants, and showers. Semi-enclosed configuration impairs water circulation. Pollution events are typically short-term, not exceeding 72 hours.
