Plage de Méjean is a 400-meter-long sandy beach in Toulon, located between Cap Brun to the west and Plage de Magaud to the east. The beach is 10 meters wide with coarse sand and experiences low visitor frequency. A rescue post is present on site, and there is a heavily-used mooring zone during the season.

Closed beach with correct water renewal. Watershed area of 0.1 km². South-facing orientation.

Toulon, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France. Bordered to the west by Cap Brun and to the east by Plage de Magaud.

June to September. Active management monitoring during summer season.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent in all ARS sampling campaigns since 2015. Low vulnerability index. No confirmed input of nitrogen and phosphorus. No history of algal blooms. Weekly ARS surveillance for Ostreopsis Ovata during July and August with no alerts since 2021. Méjean is a sentinel monitoring point for ARS.

Risks

Potential pollution from black water discharge in the mooring zone during dry periods. Potential discharge of wastewater without adequate non-collective sanitation systems. Pollution from storm surge overflow. Short-term pollution may occur from stormwater runoff via the storm collector or adjacent discharge points, with effects typically lasting no more than 72 hours.
