A sandy beach with fine quartz-feldspathic and calcareous-siliceous sand, located near a railway line and urban settlements. The beach has a medium slope of 1–3% across both the emerged and submerged zones, protected by artificial rocky outcrops. The distance between medium-low and high water levels is approximately 80 metres, with an astronomical tidal range of 30–50 centimetres. The beach is within a protected floristic area and has a mean width of 36 metres.

Location

Fano, province of Pesaro Urbino, Marche region. Accessible by bicycle path. Reserved parking for disabled visitors with accessible pathways from parking to beach and sea.

Lifeguard and first aid service. Two concession areas and two free beach areas. Reserved parking and accessible facilities for disabled visitors including accessible toilets, accessible sea pathway. Sports facilities (beach volleyball). Children's play area. Food and beverage service. Bicycle path access. No animals allowed.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: E. Three wastewater treatment plants (Ponte Metauro, Bellocchi, Ponte Sasso) serve the municipality. Ponte Metauro (>50,000 inhabitant equivalents) processes approximately 12,000 cubic metres daily. During intense rainfall, overflow discharge structures operate (7 from Ponte Metauro, 10 from Ponte Sasso, 0 from Bellocchi). Treatment plant monitoring over four years showed all results compliant with legal limits.

Risks

Non-toxic microalgae blooms (Noctiluca scintillans) occurred during the 2008 and 2009 bathing seasons, causing anomalous water discolouration.
